Economic Development Projects
Texas economic development corporations have very specific categories on which they may spend sales tax dollars. Type B sales tax may be used for projects eligible under Type A, plus quality of life improvement projects. Type B corporations may pay for land, buildings, equipment, facilities, targeted infrastructure and improvements for:
- sports and athletic facilities, tourism and entertainment facilities, convention facilities and public parks;
- related store, restaurant, concession, parking and transportation facilities;
- related street, water and sewer facilities; and
- various other specific public infrastructure improvements.

Project Details: The City of Converse and the Converse Economic Development Corporation have partnered together to make improvements at the Converse Public Pool. This project brings together the Converse City Council’s effort to invest in public infrastructure and amenities and the EDC Board’s mission of improving the quality of life for our residents. Recently, the City of Converse was awarded a grant by Texas Parks & Wildlife to make improvements to the pool surface and infrastructure, paving the way for a better experience. The EDC wanted to further enhance this project by adding new pool furniture, additional shade structures, and new fencing to complete the refined vision for one of Converse’s most used amenities.
