Local Workforce Data

The fastest growing and largest portions of our labor force are government and construction. There is a substantial portion of our workforce represented by retail which is a lateral catch in workforce skills for distribution and warehousing opportunities. 

Many of our citizens are also in military positions at Joint Base San Antonio – Randolph on our eastern border.  With our region growing, the EDC continues to recruit more job opportunities for our community. Click here for the report. 

Texas Workforce Commission (TWC)

A Texas state government agency that oversees and provides workforce development and unemployment insurance services to employers and individuals in Texas.

Promoting and supporting a workforce system that creates value and offers employers, individuals, and communities the opportunity to achieve and sustain economic prosperity.

Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA)

A local and statewide network WSA is one of the 28 workforce development boards. This organization provides a multitude of business services. They bring business and job seekers together and offer an array of services to help businesses save money, improve productivity, and provide a competitive edge. They include customized recruitment and screening services, information on tax incentive programs, labor market information, and training.

The Skills Development Fund

This program provides customized training for businesses and their employees, to increase the skill levels and wages of the Texas workforce. Training providers can use grant funds for curriculum development, training materials, instructor certifications, and training equipment additions or upgrades.

The Texas Workforce Commission administers funding for the program to support collaborations among businesses, eligible grant applicants, and local economic development partners.

Alamo Colleges

Are you an employer looking for skills gap training for your employees? 

Alamo Colleges offers Corporate College programs to improve employee skills at your workplace or to train employees for a new career. Corporate College combines real-world experiences with skills and textbook training for your employees. They also offer customized training solutions for individuals and organizations with classes offered on their campuses or at your place of employment.
