Lifestyle

We are a vibrant, talented, diverse community, and we all agree on one thing:  Converse, Texas is the place we love to call home.   Converse is home to more than 30,000 residents and more than 300 small and medium-sized businesses.  A community of heroes including thousands who commute to Joint Base San Antonio – Randolph.

Our Parks

The City of Converse boasts three parks: Converse North Park, Converse City Park, and Anton Schumann Park.  A linear walking path that connects City Park and North Park is a 3-mile round trip. We have new playground equipment which includes a kid’s zip line. There is free outdoor workout equipment for our citizens to keep in shape. We have a city pool, basketball courts,  baseball diamonds, and a fishing pier. Each park has a pavilion that can be rented. And finally, a New Natural Hiking trail that stretches over 1 mile long(Schumann).

Our Community

Our citizens have many amenities to choose from throughout the community which makes Converse a great place to live and raise a family. We are always striving to enhance the daily lives of our citizens. In the last year, Converse has opened a Senior Center, a new park, and made upgrades to our linear walking path. The Converse Senior Center opened in August 2021 to keep them healthy, engaged, and independent. Converse also recently created a Purple Heart Memorial which stands in front of our Senior Center. Our city’s designation as a Purple Heart City holds the tradition that our military and their families are an important foundation to our area.

Our Traditions

Converse holds many traditions close to our hearts. None more important than Night in Ole Converse. This three-day event kicks off with a carnival and live music and includes a parade through the center of the city. It is a chance for our families to get out and spend time together. Another event our families love to attend is National Night Out. This event is a partnership between local law enforcement and our community. There are local vendors, food trucks, and entertainment that enhances the relationship between the community and the police. Converse is a close-knit community that supports one another.
